I believe I would be good for this role because I have got 5 years experience in this line of work, I have got a lot of experience with electrical engineering work within this domain, I also have a lot of mechanical engineering experience in this line of work. I always take great pride in my work if it’s sweeping the floor or fitting new crane on a barge I take immense pride in my work and love the idea of travelling between sites learning more and experiencing more working with new and different crews also new and different equipment. I have only ever called in sick for 2 days of my entire working life and take great pride in that you can rely on me to work to the best of my ability and also ask for help when it is needed.
I have been in the engineering department now for nearly 4 years, and in this time I have I have worked in both a bigger team (9 people including me) and a smaller team (4 people including me) and in this time I have faced many challenges that I have overcome, I am still waiting for a date to sit my final exam to pass my electrical course and hopefully is not too far away. In the time I have been at engineering I have not only completed electrical tasks I have also worked on hydraulic and mechanical appliances such as, replacing gearboxes within boats, working on cranes and capstans and a lot of other experiences that some other people won't have, and even though I work within the engineering department I still go and help sites when they are treating and harvesting to keep my knowledge of how these sites operate up to scratch. So working within this engineering team I have had to adapt and overcome many challenges which I enjoy doing.
I Obtained certifications for site work including sea survival, first aid, ML5, slinger and signaller, crane operation, firefighting, and fish health within a year, advancing to fish health position due to eagerness to learn and grow. Participated in over 30 treatments and harvests, gaining valuable experience in challenging sea conditions. Collaborated closely with four colleagues, enhancing communication and morale to effectively complete tasks. When at Wyre I completed an entire cycle of fish there, from fallow to fallow so I have experience adding and removing nets, setting up cages, setting up nets fish health, health checks and everything that goes into a cycle of fish.
I spent just over a year at Heddles construction before going to SSF and in that time I learned so much about civil engineering and construction, I spent a lot of time pouring concrete and working with plant and machinery all new skills to me at the time there was also a very tight team there that would always rotate between the 12 of us ground workers so maintaining a good relationship with these people was essential for success at work which I managed to do and also comunication was very important along with that health and safety was essential when working with plant, machinery, abrasive wheels and all the other elements of working on a construction site. Wearing the correct PPE and RPE, along with also constantly doing mental risk assessments of my surroundings and working as efficently and safely as possible to get the work done correctly, safely and to a very high standard.
My time at Tesco was when I was at school, I worked there at nights and weekends, and in my first 3 months they would let me run the produce department on Wednesday nights by myself so this meant I had to do the reductions, do the waste at the end of the night, and also keep the shop floor top shape and topped up with stock. Communication with both customers and also managers was essential and also maintaining a level head when things are not going your way was very important these are skills I still use in my current job and will use in the future. Along with keeping composed when under stress or in an intense environment.
At my time working in the kitchen I had just tuned 15, and was taking on as a pot washer and within 2 months I had worked my way up to working within the kitchen making food due to my hard working ethic and my ability to learn on the job. Working in a kitchen means you work both under immense pressure and high stress environments but also that the standard of work cannot slip due to these conditions it also means that I had to work in a clean enviroment and keep it clean throughout the chaos and keep the work standard high and maintain pride in your work, the main aspect of working in a kitchen is communication, in this job is where I learnt how to properly communicate under pressure and effectively all at the age of 15 and 16, so the skills I learned here I have taken with me for the rest of my life and in all jobs and aspects of my life.
