Van Driver
Goldstar Heathrow
Colnbrook, Berkshire
11.2018 - 12.2019
Drove a 3.5T van (mostly a Luton) anywhere in the country delivering goods and collecting goods.
Collected and delivered goods to airlines at Heathrow and other major London airports, including Stansted, Luton, and Gatwick.
Conducted HVHR (High Value, High Risk) deliveries to distribution centres in the north of England. This required a lot of care and attention, as you could not stop at services, and you had to secure the cargo area with a padlock and a metal security seal to ensure no tampering had occurred during transit. This was quite exhilarating at times, as there was a period of a few months when hijacking was rampant and vehicles were being stolen during transit. Luckily, this never happened to me; however, the stories were unnerving. This was all due to the nature of the cargo that we were carrying.
Helped train other staff members how to use their PDAs and other systems we used to complete day-to-day duties.
Conducted walk-around checks of vehicles before starting to drive. This taught me driver ethics, the importance of ensuring that your vehicle is safe before driving, and the need to take care of your vehicle.
At the start, I used to work in the workshop to gain experience driving vans. This mostly entailed collecting parts for vehicles from various suppliers and doing vehicle transfers to other Goldstar depots across the country.
Deck Hand
LeBoat

Driving boats ranging from as small as 25 ft to as large as 48 ft during the turnaround period between rentals. This was at their base at Penton Hook Marina.
Driving the boats to the diesel station, and then to the pump-out station to remove all the waste from the onboard waste storage tank.
Cleaning the exterior of the boats while the internal cleaners did the inside.
Instructing new customers on how to drive their boat if no previous experience was present.
Conducting show-arounds for new customers as they board the boat, instructing them on the various systems and controls throughout the vessel. This included engine ignition and de-ignition, battery isolator switches, fuel cut-offs, on-board generator start-ups, showers, and the appliances in the galley.
Making sure that the pontoons and walkways were clear and presentable to other members of the marina.
Towing boats that have broken down or gotten stuck on the sandbank that is present as you navigate the entrance of Penton Hook Marina.
Conducting boat transfers of vessels between Chertsey and Benson, as this was where their main base was located. This was necessary due to some customers booking their holiday to start at various bases, when the boats themselves were located elsewhere.
Rides and Attractions Host
Thorpe Park Resort
Chertsey, Surrey
03.2017 - 06.2017
Loaded guests onto the ride at the loading point, ensuring their safety bars were locked in place and that health and safety procedures were all followed before sending the ride for a cycle.
Unloaded guests from the rides and directed them to collect their bags.
Collected bags from guests and exchanged them for a wristband; I also collected the wristbands from them once they had got off the rides and returned their bags.
Safely allowed guests into the building by counting each person and letting the operator know when there were too many people, and when to change the ride queue time board.
Collected litter and changed bins at the end of the day, ensured that the ride was shut down correctly, and made certain that the building was secure when we shut the park.
