As a firefighter control operator, I am the link between the general public and firefighting operation on the incident ground. Firefighter control operators take on a varied role from answering then dispatching to to 999 emergencies, ensuring county wide availability of appliances and officers, operating AIRWAVE radios, maintaining admin within control and providing survival guidance where necessary.
Working at Essex outdoors would require me to prepare and run a broad number of activities and sessions for all ages and abilities, including individuals with special educational needs. From archery and climbing to bush craft and problem solving. Ensuring that all participants are enjoying themselves and are proactive in the sessions are a vital part of this role. I would also be expected to maintain a safe and well-presented environment.
