Summary

I have been a welder for 9 years and have experience in both TIG and MIG welding on Mild Steel, Stainless Steel and Bronze. I also have experience fabricating these materials and working with sheet metal, tube, box section, flat bar and plates. I have also worked on site when I have been needed gained have a basic knowledge of mechanical fitting. Through my career I believe I have gained skills that are transferable through different jobs and I am always eager to learn new things.

Work history

Welder Fabricator / Site Fitter

My role here was a mix of welding and fabricating in the workshop and assisting on site with the installation and maintenance of varied products for mainly the food industry. My duties for each role were:


Welder/Fabricator

  • Working to drawings
  • TIG and MIG welding and fabricating on mild and stainless steel on material mostly between 1mm-15mm
  • Welding and fabricating materials such as sheet metal, tube, box section, plates and flat bar
  • Safely using equipment and machinery such as rolls, press brake, swager, pillar drill, band saw, plasma cutter and various hand tools
  • Using these techniques to produce products such as square, round and square to round transitions, screw conveyors, hoppers, brackets and legs and various other products to what the drawing specifies


Site Fitter

  • Installing various products such as filters, hoppers, blowlines, ducting, conveyors, transitions, brackets, steelwork and steel flooring
  • Performing lifting operations and bulk handling using hoists and chain blocks
  • Working at heights
  • Welding on site to fit and modify parts as needed

Welding and fabricating bespoke windows, doors and screens made from bronze for various types of buildings such as castles, churches, manors and houses


  • TIG welding common joints to make doors and windows
  • Safely using machinery including chop saw, band saw, miller and pillar drill
  • Working to drawings to ensure all sizes and specifications are correct
  • Ensuring all bars, handles, bolts, locks and other parts are aligned and placed correctly
  • Using hand tools and power tools such as grinders, drills and sanders safely
  • Fettling welds


I spent 2 years as an apprentice where I went to college 1 day a week to gain my welding and fabrication qualifications and the remaining days learning on the job
