• Provide clinical assessment to patients of all ages for undifferentiated presentations.
• Assess, manage, and refer patients presenting with both illness and injury for all ages.
• Request, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures such as: ECG, urinalysis, xray, swabs, and culture requests.
• Administer and supply various medications under PGDs.
• Refer patients appropriately to a prescriber for medications that are outside of a PGD.
• Refer patients to specialists or book patients directly into outpatient clinics (such as fracture clinic) as required.
• Admit patients to hospital when presentation is beyond the capabilities of the UTC.
• Triage presenting patients utilising the UTC's triage system and own clinical judgement.
• Identify the need for enhanced diagnostics such as blood testing, central xray, CT, or MRI and refer as appropriate.
• Manage patients with injury presentations through application of appropriate splints.
• Suture lacerations in line with own capabilities and know when to refer onwards if required.

Prior to registration as a paramedic, I worked as a Band 5 Emergency Medical Technician. Upon registration as a paramedic, I automatically progressed into a Band 6 Paramedic role. These roles only included work within two emergency departments within Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, however, my employment with iD Medical includes the availability to work in a variety of settings within the United Kingdom. Within the emergency departments, my responsibilities included:

- Provide clinical care to patients of varying acuity.
- Obtain observations, ECGs, cannulation and venepuncture
- Administer prescribed medications through a variety of routes, adhering to the 6 R's of medication administration
- Clinically lead an area within the department when required
- Maintain a professional responsibility to ensure that patient care was delivered appropriately, in line with guidance/policy
- Liaise with a variety of colleagues such as nursing staff, doctors, administration teams, site management, emergency response teams, and porters
- Clinically escort patients to other areas of the hospital when clinical need dictated, being responsible for recognising any deterioration and managing individual emergencies
- Adhere to IPC requirements.

• To respond to emergency and urgent calls from the public and healthcare professionals.
• Be able to identify a differential diagnosis and treat accordingly.
• Safely discharge patients at home or refer to an alternative pathway as appropriate.
• Identify, manage, and appropriately refer (if applicable) patients who are more appropriate to remain within their own homes, such as elderly or frail patients.
• Liaise with family and other healthcare professionals in the creation or adaptation of comprehensive ReSPECT forms.
• Liaise with various different agencies and services such as GPs, mental health teams and other emergency services such as police and fire.
• Act as the senior clinician when working with a technician, newly qualified technician, trainee technician or emergency care assistant.
• Assist new trainee staff when working as a crew by providing advice and support where required.
• Be a designated practice educator for a student technician or student paramedic as required.
• Work solo when demand dictates on a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV).
• Assess, treat and escalate a patient to a senior clinician such as a specialist paramedic or requesting HEMS as clinically required.
