Within my early career I have worked within several technical fields. These being both Data Protection, ISO standards and have collaborated with our Cyber Security team. Throughout these roles I have worked closely with senior members of staff both internally and externally. I provide a proactive outlook within the workplace. I am committed to continual improvement, am ambitious and eager to improve my skillset and knowledge base. I enjoy taking on challenging new roles harnessing interpersonal skills, collaboration and problem-solving. Driven to deliver high-quality service and consistent results to clients and our own internal systems.
Upon completion of my apprenticeship, due to availability and increase in ISO workload I transferred across to our ISO function. Here I have 2 key roles: consultancy where I assist in clients to gain a certification to mainly ISO 27001 (Information Security) from nothing to certification and IMS Co-Ordinator, where I assist in the continual management of our Integrated Management System (IMS). Skills involved in this is as follows:
Within this role I am dealing with our own internal documentation which is published across the company. This includes publishing, reviewing and templating our documentation. I am required to have a great attention to detail to ensure our documents not only compliant to the appropriate ISO standards but ensuring accuracy within our policies/procedures as well as maintaining our registers (such as supplier registers, compliments and complaints register, document registers etc).
As an IMS Co-Ordinator I am responsible for planning of our IMS. An example of this would be ensuring our internal audits have all been booked and prepared for, our testing of our systems (such as penetration testing) as been booked. I also am responsible for holding other colleagues accountable for any documentation/forms that they own that are in need on a review. Within this role, I also work closely with more senior members of the organisation.
Upon leaving education at 18 I joined Evalian as part of their inaugural Data Protection Paralegal Apprenticeship cohort. Throughout this 2 year period I learned not only about the industry but also how to conduct myself professionally while dealing with any high profile clients. Throughout this time I dealt with UK legislation related to Data Protection (e.g the GDPR) as well as several different countries and providing advice to organisations to allow them to better comply with Data Protection legislation.
Within this role, I learned very valuable skills such as:
Working in a consultancy means having a portfolio of clients with different needs and expectations, certain tasks require tighter deadlines so in these situations I would have to appropriately prioritise task.
I have both verbally and through emails/documentation communicated with clients and fellow colleagues as well as catering for any client needs.
This is due to the legislation not always black and white. As well as this, client requests are not always ordinary and as a consultant there have been many occasions where I have had to think critically to come to a conclusion.
This was a part time job while I completed my A-Levels at college. Here I worked mainly on the tills, self-scan and the kiosk.
This was a short term role while I was at secondary school which was cut short due to COVID-19.
