Summary

Energy management, with energy efficiency improvement. While working for the NHS I was tasked into a new project called Re:Fit. This focused on all NHS owned buildings within the Cardiff & Vale, finding all expenditures regarding energy. This total expenditure was then explored thoroughly to be reduced, findings the main energy consumptions effecting the sites, via on site CHP's, insulation around all pipes needed, insulation around windows, and set timers for heating and lighting. This was all explored, written down into understandable spreadsheets with attributing values for every sector. Graphs were made and presented by me using the data I collected across all sites, to the Re:Fit team and the head of energy within the health board, over the course of the year new pipes were installed, new insulation, modified CHP heat schedules and pipe routing, and any alternative measure that could be implemented. This project was able to reduce total energy expenditure within the Cardiff health board by ~£70,000. This entire project has led me to be thorough and detail-oriented in calculating values and optimising designs/systems for needed code compliance and project specifications. Analytical in approaching and resolving energy issues.

Bachelor of Science & Engineering - Mechanical engineering

University of Plymouth
Plymouth
09.2020 - 10.2025

BTEC Extended Diploma - Mechanical engineering

Coleg Gwent

Skills

  • Engineering quality management, reaching a 70% in examinations, understanding how businesses work and where to take them to reach the next step, reducing waste while improving all sectors of work flow within engineering branches
  • Throughout work experience coupled with studies mainly in university and being captain of rugby, I have learnt how to adapt and fit within a team, to work together and problem solve to reach a set end goal Knowing how to divide roles, how to communicate effectively and understand each persons contribution to better your own All while leading by example
  • CAD drawings, mainly via Solidworks 2024, has been a common tool used within my final year of studying Being able to create a telescopic crane that fits on to a typical transportation truck for delivering ISO containers (All designed via Solidworks, made to meet specifications within a brief, with accurate and working fixtures) This software has grown on me and I am now understanding how to make proficient use out of it
  • Energy management has become a skill due to my work with the NHS Being able to find and understand all energy costs and consumptions, transferring this mass data into understandable spreadsheets and PowerPoints for meetings, where necessary adjustments, repairs and constructions can now be put into place to reduce all energy costs over the calendar year

Affiliations

  • Rugby has been a keen interest from as little as 7 years old. But overtime I've found a new keen interest in chess which I enjoy to play most days.
