I am now in my fifth year within the Virtual Finance department of a top 50 firm. I joined as a school leaver and have now progressed my studies onto the ACCA pathway. My job role has evolved over my tenure from basic entry level bookkeeping to now managing a portfolio of management accounts and VAT clients. I have also been exposed to other processes such as accounts preparation, partial exemption calculations, cashflow forecasting and reserves planning. Within my role I am required to have knowledge in a variety of cloud accounting and data capture softwares such as Quickbooks, Xero, Silverfin, Autoentry & Dext. I am adept in all of these and have provided software training to clients as part of ad hoc requests.

Virtual Finance Trainee | Mercer & Hole | St Albans AL1 1NS
Upon completion of Level 4 AAT I began my studies within the ACCA pathway. Alongside this step up in my studies I was tasked with taking on more responsibility for the day to day management of the less experienced members of the team. This challenged my leadership and managing skills of which both have improved dramatically through being able to delegate and provide feedback both downwards to the team and upwards to my management.
I have also had the opportunity to carry out more complex tasks such as cash flow forecasting and reserves planning to expose myself to trickier accounting concepts.

Outsourcing Apprentice | Mercer & Hole | St Albans AL1 1NS
I joined Mercer & Hole after completing sixth form as an outsourcing apprentice in the St Albans team. Day to day I carried out various bookkeeping tasks such as processing purchase & sales invoices for numerous clients through Autoentry and Dext as well as carrying out bank reconciliations and preparing VAT returns for submission deadlines. I then earned the extra responsibility of producing management accounts for my own portfolio of clients which I am managing on both a monthly and quarterly basis. In addition, I studied towards Level 4 AAT alongside my work to assist with expanding my accounting knowledge.
Crew Trainer (Part time) | McDonald's | London Colney AL2 1BX
Due to my commitment to McDonald’s and the consistent high level of accuracy and effort that I contributed to the company, I was offered a promotion to become a Crew Trainer. This in turn allowed me to expand my skill-set by taking on a larger responsibility by offering my expertise to new employees so that they can develop a key understanding of each station. Furthermore it allowed me to support managers to achieve branch goals and in turn allow the restaurant to succeed more by offering my skill-set.
Since turning sixteen, I worked at McDonald’s and gathered knowledge of the whole restaurant and how to work at each station to be able to complete different goals. This has allowed me to develop key skills such as the ability to work under pressure to complete team and restaurant objectives. Likewise being able to communicate with different people effectively to allow the team to be able to work efficiently.
