Northern Ireland Youth Forum

NIYF is a regional youth-led charity which advocates for youth voice and participation, and champions issues young people face.

• One of the highlights of my involvement with NIYF was the Our Voices research project during the Covid-19 lockdown, where we conducted a survey to collect the opinions of young people through the pandemic on issues effecting them, including their education, social life, and their views on government handling of the lockdown. With the results I, along with other young people, presented these to NI Assembly Committees, including the Education Committee, the Ad-hoc Bill of Rights Committee, and the Executive Office Committee; bringing the views of young people to decision makers on issues that affect them.
• In 2023 I had the opportunity to provide evidence to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva during their 7 year reporting cycle. In this session I wasn't gauranteed a speaking slot, however with 15 minutes warning I was alotted 3 minutes to present, where I spoke about the continued paramilitary influence within our communities and the affect that has on young people's development.
• Since 2021 I have been priveleged to be an Executive Committee Member and Trustee of NIYF. In this position I have undertaken many roles, including assisting in staffing decisions, funding discussions and strategic planning; aswell as organising a rebrand, along with reforming our constitution, standing orders, and policies.

SDLP Youth

• During my brief time over the past year as a member of the SDLP, I have enjoyed my participation within the party, leafletting doors, attending conferences, and welcoming youth members of our sister parties to Belfast.

Carryduff & Drumbo Parish Council

• Over the past year and a half, I have appreciated an increased participation within my parish community, helping organise events, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone of all walks of life.
