Electrical Estimator

Pod Point
09.2021 - Current
  • EV Charging Installations:
I support and estimate wide range of EV charging projects across commercial, residential, and workplace settings, including single-point chargers, rapid DC hubs, and multi-point installations in car parks and fleet depots.
  • Electrical Design & CAD Work:
I currently develop detailed electrical designs and layout drawings using AutoCAD, Trimble and Electrical OM, producing site-specific schematics for LV distribution, cable routing, containment, and charger placements, all aligned with IET wiring regulations and client requirements.
  • Site Surveys & Planning:
I conduct comprehensive on-site surveys to assess feasibility, power availability, cable runs, and groundworks. Produce survey reports and contribute directly to the early-stage design process and installation planning.
  • DNO/IDNO/ICP Coordination:
Regularly liaise with DNOs (Distribution Network Operators), IDNOs, and ICPs to coordinate grid connections, submit applications, and provide technical input on load calculations, point-of-connection assessments, and supply upgrades.
  • Project Support & Cost Estimation:
I also produce accurate cost estimates, BOQs/BOMs, and scope documentation, supporting bid submissions and value-engineering proposals for clients and internal teams.

Skills

  • Revit – In my previous roles within the M&E sector, I used Revit daily for tasks such as clash detection and general problem-solving While the frequency of Revit use has decreased in my current position, I remain proficient in the software and continue to use it for large-scale, multi-storey EVCP adoption projects
  • ElectricalOM – I have extensive experience using ElectricalOM to produce reports and schematics It plays a key role in my day-to-day responsibilities, where I rely on it for cable calculations and to compile comprehensive design packs for our engineers working on-site
  • AutoCAD – I am highly experienced in using AutoCAD, having applied it throughout my career for a variety of purposes In my current role, I regularly use AutoCAD to develop and design layout drawings for EV charging point (EVCP) installations

Accomplishments

The Royal Households - 2024

This project was particularly memorable due to the extent of my involvement, from initial meetings, the on-site survey to the quoting and handover of the project. I saw this install from the very start, right until the end.

Wales Fire Service - 2023

The Design & Install of 4No. 150kW Rapid Sockets for the Large Fire Service Vehicles had interesting complexities that made the handover all that more rewarding.

Haribo HQ - 2022

The Design & Install of 48No. 7kW Sockets in the flagship Haribo Headquarters was both an exiting and challenging project.

Prince Albert High School - 2021

Project Engineer taking S4 designs into procurement, installation and completion.

UK BIC: Battery Testing Facility - 2020

Assisting the design of electrical services and taking them through to completion.

UoB: School of Engineering - 2019

Design of the £1m lighting package on the project.

Apprentice of the Year - 2019

The best of the companies rising stars who champion apprenticeships.
