Working As a lifeguard and swim teacher was a really rewarding As This was My first job when I was 17 it helped me to understand the work environment and also the importance of safety in the work place
This includes taking regular pool tests throughout the day to make sure the pool is at the appropriate ph. scale and chlorine levels and also taking the pool temperature because if the temperature is either higher or lower than the standard it can create issues and complaints that would make complications going forward
As a swim teacher I was in charge on conducting lessons to groups of children aged 4-26 I would do cover for other teaches between My own lessons As I taught for three hours a day Monday to Friday except for Wednesdays so I would cover on Wednesdays and weekends from time to time
During My lessons I had to make sure that all children was safe and looked after As improper supervision could lead to a dangerous environment for the children along with This I had too ensure that they learnt As much As possible and also have fun During the lesson This helped me learn how to be alert and attentive for long periods at a time while also giving a informative and accurate teachings to each individual child
Being a lifeguard I had to supervise the pool maintaining the 10-20 scanning system to ensure all swimmers in the pool are safe and following the pool rules and if they break the rules then I would need to make sure they are by informing them of the risks and consequences of not adhering to them
My additional responsibilities included cleaning the changing rooms making sure the floors are clean and not slippery to ensure customers are safe transitioning from the pool and also answering any questions I'm asked and helping the customers with any enquiries they have
Over My years at the swimming baths I learnt many skills which have helped me to grow and better improve My professional development
