Building on the success of my work as a freelance consultant (see past employment), I have been building a team of specialists in the field of Business Intelligence and Data Management
I have directed and worked alongside my team on a variety of projects both private and public sector, recent among which have included: Power BI Data Provisioning and Dashboard development predominantly for Social Care Departments using Liquid Logic, Mosaic and ContrOCC; Designing the architecture for our new Lakehouse solution CASCADE; Developing a suite of performance management reports, including dashboard functionality
This project involved developing data transformation and loading processes, data warehouse mapping and extraction from other sources; Development of a suite of migration, transformation and archiving scripts using SSIS, SQL Server and Oracle – 8 projects in past 10 years including Care First to Mosaic, Swift to Liquid Logic, Azeus to LL and Controcc; Project Managing Pilot eCAF implementation; Upgrading a Suite of Business Objects reports from v5.1 to 6.5; Classroom Training users on SQL, Business Objects, Power BI; Preparing Business Case for the migration from Business Objects 5.1 to Xi of Universes and Reports, testing the new functionality of Xi and developing a project plan for migration
As well as the wealth of technical skills and experience accumulated over this time, I have also developed a confidence working with stakeholders at every level of a large array of public and private sector institutions from data input clerks to Directors of Finance and Chief Executives
This has given me a clear perspective and useful insights into the different way in which data impacts the operational and decision-making processes of complex organisations
Whilst the Social Care and Housing sectors have featured most strongly in the projects I have undertaken, clients have also included a travel agency, a hospitality venue, a retail consultancy and an architectural practice.

I was primarily employed in technical roles in which clients needed to tap into my considerable experience of a range of database systems and statutory reporting requirements
I developed reporting solutions aimed at improving service performance through analysis and provision of management information and suites of exception reports, which helped the monitoring of compliance with data recording requirements, the Business Objects range of products being my preferred tools in most cases
I generally found myself becoming involved with end user issues and the political / managerial constraints which tended to be barriers to effective implementations of Management Information projects
Where appropriate I championed system development, becoming involved in the decision-making processes regarding implementations and upgrades to employers’ Information Systems
I also worked to improve recording practice through the development of improved procedural instructions.
