I am a hardworking, reliable and a pro-active 19 year old. I have experience with brickwork on-site and college, I work well as part of a team and also under my own initiative. I am also friendly, polite and helpful, with a good sense of humour. I have excellent interpersonal skills, I can communicate on all levels, I love to learn new skills, I thrive for a challenge, and I’m looking to start a successful career in construction. I am west London/ Bedford based.
During my time at college I did a mixture of practical and theory work that contributed to developing my knowledge in bricklaying and construction. My theory work included: estimating brickwork for jobs, how to read brickwork basic and advanced site drawings, the ratio for mortar mix, health and safety on site and risk assessments and method statements alongside the acts and laws of construction. In my physical work, I was appointed to a work shop where I did bricklaying where I was taught valuable skills in the trade and construction in general, as well as using various crucial construction tools.
In my spare time I have a passion for keeping healthy and going to the gym, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and I believe that this has contributed to my bubbly personality, which allows me to thrive in teamwork and in a working environment. I have my driving licence which has taught me independence and responsibility. In the future, I aspire to be a site manager in the field of construction as I enjoy being on site and believe I have the qualities of a good manager.
During my time at Bowden Moss, my primary responsibilities included actively participating in demolition projects as a construction laborer. I was proficient in the use of a sledgehammer and also played a crucial role in the efficient management of deliveries. Some of my responsibilities included:
At Midcliff construction on a day to day basis I would build up corners whilst checking all my work with my spirit level then I would put on my line and run through brickwork/ blockwork depending on the wall whilst adding in wall ties, dpc, insulation and wheep holes when necessary this helped me to further my skills and knowledge of bricklaying a lot. Also I would help loadout Muck and bricks / blocks when needed. This helped me develop a deep knowledge in the trade of bricklaying and helped me build a passion for being on site.
While employed at Orange Genie, my key responsibilities encompassed maintaining a clean and organised work site, managing the receipt of various deliveries, including plasterboards and other materials, and providing valuable assistance to all the skilled tradespeople working on-site.
