Within my time at this position I received barista training, being able to make a selection of both hot and cold coffees, as well as brief knowledge of cocktail making. Waitressing wise I am able to handle multiple tables at once, ensuring their bills are correct and up to date on our till system, whilst keeping composure and calm and welcoming appearance to customers. I learned how to cash up and lock up, making sure both bar and food area are tidy for those opening. Similarly, Ive also done the opening shift, making sure everything is set up and ready for that days service.
I have worked at this position for just over 5 years now, making my way from a kitchen porter to kitchen hand, preparing starters and deserts for a fairly busy restaurant, catering for tables between 10-30 people. because of the length of time spent at this job, I've built up great workplace relationship with staff, both those in kitchen and front of house. I have gained my level 3 health and hygiene qualification and also good knowledge of food preparation, handling and serving due to working closely with varying chefs. I have assembled and plated both starters and sweets in my time, and due to this I have high regard for presentation and what is acceptable to serve. Washing dishes and organisation of kitchen equipment is also something I'm used to. Closing down the kitchen such as spraying all stations down, doing dishes, sweeping and mopping and making sure equipment is off is my task when I'm on shift as I do close down the kitchen. This again ensures everything is tidy and clean for whoever is on breakfast shift.
