- Offered a full time apprenticeship after being involved with a scheme called 'Working Rite' which provided a potential platform for individuals who had left school to gain full time employment.
- I attended college 4 days a month where I would gain experience in Lathes, Milling Machines & Hydraulic systems.
- Learning new skills in in the repair & remanufacturing of Industrial Radiators, Plate Heat Exchangers, Heating Batteries, Coils, Oil Coolers & Tube Bundles.
- Making the correct seals & gaskets for the required project, following client needs and company standards.
- Daily pressure testing, using certified gauge & chart systems.
- I would be involved in a team of 2 where we would clean out HVAC systems using handheld tools such as pedal driven brushes and also Remote control Robotics which use a live feed to drive through small ducting and cleaning at the same time.
- These projects ranged from Gas Plants, Schools, Offshore & Offices.

- I would complete my apprenticeship at Glacier in December 2019 after they acquired Richard Irvin's Oil & Gas division in July 2018.
- Here, I would focus more on the offshore side of the business where demands were higher, projects were bigger.
- I would obtain my BOSIET, MIST & OGUK Medical. Along with MJI 10, 18 & 19 torquing qualifications.
- The line of work here would still run align with the repair & remanufacturing of Industrial Radiators, Oil/Gas Coolers, Plate Heat Exchangers etc.
- I would learn new skills in manufacturing Tube Bundles from scratch, which would include a high concentration on materials, dimensions & tolerances for bundle length and tube expansion.
- Fitting of spools, flanges & channel ends.
- Hand & hydraulic bolt torquing/tensioning.
- Torque & seal plugging techniques for faulty tubes in bundles to minimise cost for clients allowing a quick but safe turn around.
- Completing all activities in a timely, accurate & efficient manner in accordance with work procedures and instructions.
- Implement & support effective work practices & systems to constantly improve product delivery.
- Ensure quality assurance of all work scopes were maintained.

- I would also obtain my Level 1 in Rigging.
- I would begin to work offshore more consistently working on various scopes including the installation of tube bundles, spools & turret bearings.
