Passionate and dedicated in helping young people express themselves using caring and results-orientated teaching techniques. Dynamic and adept in implementing the personal tools and skills required to develop an inquisitive, happy and confident individual. Creating a self-disciplined and respectful learning environment whilst maintaining an appropriate level of sensitivity and patience in doing so. Experienced in working and connecting with vulnerable people, with the ability to remain calm and level-headed under pressure. A natural understanding of behavioural patterns and the ability to connect with my own emotions and other people's as well. This allows me to reflect upon reasons for certain actions and motivations that impact everyday life. I see the potential in every individual and feel determined to assist in allowing young people to see that for themselves. I can tailor the way the information is delivered to each student as I understand that everybody learns differently. Acquired the necessary life skills in order to deal with a number of situations, and have therefore developed a resilient, honest and forward thinking philosophy. This enables me to implement these values in others. I have an overriding sense of duty and care towards young people and understand the importance of education and want to make a career out of it.
Unfortunately, in 2019 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and later the first lockdown had begun.
Although this prevented me from doing as much as I would have wished, I tried to use the time as well as possible. I have managed to create a small teaching business for myself, the majority of the children that I tutor have ADHD or dyslexia and are struggling with keeping up in school.
I am now in remission and have made a full recovery.
I briefly volunteered at the Cancer Research Centre charity shop in Hampstead as a shop assistant. After suffering from cancer myself and experiencing extreme loneliness and isolation, I wanted to give back to the community that aided me through my recovery in a difficult period in my life, as well as experiencing another work environment.
Whilst working at the gallery in Spain, I was entirely responsible for running the gallery and held the title of director of marketing and sales. The artist (Gines Serran-Pagan) invited me to assist him in naming his various works on display for potential clients. My responsibilities also included creating a website for the gallery, contacting and communicating with previous and prospective buyers, organised events, created marketing, promotion and advertising strategies and organised security measures.
Throughout my gap year travelling in Morocco I volunteered to teach basic maths, English and music at an orphanage in the remote area of Asni, along with a number of close friends. This was the most magical and remarkable experience of my life. My team and I helped build and plan for an extension on the grounds providing an IT room for the children. We also organised a successful funding campaign for computers so that the children could have access to education online. The majority of the children were disabled. Teaching these children only further reinforced my ability to connect and help vulnerable people.
