01.2020 - Current

Since successfully selling my world leading photographic production company, Juice Images Ltd. in January 2020, I have, in the main, been enjoying a period of time-off from the commercial photographic world. During my 15yrs running Juice I specialised in shooting the Lifestyle, Business and Industry genres, with Industry being a favourite. For my true depth of professional experience, see further below. In the meantime, I have conducted shoots for my own benefit and that of friends, in the main involving property and landscapes. This has kept me up to date with:

Shooting to deadlines whilst liaising with third parties at every level from conception through to final execution.

Organising every element of production - creative, logistics, permissions, post-production, delivery..

Maintaining my commercial CAA drone authorisation which allows me to fly commercially and shoot high end stills and 4k video using both Mavic 3 and Inspire 2 platforms.

Conducting shoots with my own pro level Canon 1dX Mkll and R5C cameras, full suite of Canon lenses and Elinchrom/Rotolight flash and tungsten lighting kits.

Editing video and stills using Photoshop and Final Cut Pro to commercial advertising standard.

Maintaining the professional portfolio at my website and on social media.

Managing Director and Chief Photographer

Juice Images Ltd
Yeovil, Somerset
01.2005 - 01.2020

Set up Juice from scratch - hired/managed a team of 8 specialised professionals with the goal of quickly creating a major supply of high-end stock images, a global sales distribution network (including Getty Images and Shutterstock) and an industry-leading reputation.

Developed a programme of international photographic shoots spanning Europe, North America and South Africa utilising a budget of £1.2m eventually numbering some 100k images.

Engaged a select team of photographers to supplement my own shooting to accelerate growth.

Played a lead role in managing the global sales network of some 60 agents, building relationships with them to ensure the best possible representation.

Managed relationships with office staff, sales network, suppliers and shoot personnel in a way that fostered positive energy, maximum team play and harmony thus achieving best possible outcomes and growing Juice' brand leader qualities.

Managed UK marketing and advertising initiatives including conceptualising and roll-out.

Oversaw financial operations for fiscal control and profitability.

As lead photographer:

Identified market trends, often using sales data, with a view to shooting subjects with optimum ROI and writing extensive shoot lists for image-by-image execution on each shoot.

Planned every aspect of shoots, worldwide, including identifying and booking models, locations, stylists, assistants, props.. ensuring that everyone and everything was where it was meant to be when it was meant to be in order to maximise image output on the day.

Maintained maximum technical image quality through use of own equipment - flagship Canon pro cameras and lenses and DJI Mavic/Inspire drones.

Shot every kind of lifestyle and business subject, but especially enjoyed Industry where I shot in data centres, nuclear power facilities, container docks, farms, factories, food and drink plants and many more.

Managing Director

Powerstock Ltd
London
01.1994 - 10.2004

Having inherited The International Stock Exchange Photo Library which I created for the London Stock Exchange, I was given the opportunity to leave with it and develop it as my own company - Powerstock.

I undertook all the leadership and management responsibilities to be found, later, under my management of Juice Images but with less of the photography production element. Powerstock was principally a UK image sales agency representing the images of collections around the eworld and selling to the UK's picture buyers - advertising/design agencies, publishers, corporates, tv and film and so on.

I successfully grew Powerstock and sold it to an American agency in 2003, staying on to manage it for them for another two years. The main reason for moving on to create Juice was so that I could spend more time in content creation, as a photographer.

Photo Library Co-ordinator

London Stock Exchange
London
01.1993 - 12.1993

I joined the London Stock Exchange to set up from scratch their own image library in order to manage picture requests of the Exchange and its famous trading floor from press, commercial and non-commercial customers.

I grew the library into a more comprehensive Business library spanning the entire business spectrum and distributed the images through an international network which I established and managed.

This was a success but I wanted to grow the agency still wider and, after 12 months, negotiated a buy-out from them which took the form of Powerstock Ltd. the following year.

Sales Executive

Tony Stone Worldwide
London
11.1991 - 12.1992

My role at Tony Stone Worldwide was to sell usage rights in high-end stock images to the corporate markets.

Managed a client base of some 1500 clients and negotiated fees and rights in respect of images they wanted to use in their projects.

Involved a supremely high degree of interpersonel skills both on the phone and in person, in order to build strong, trusting relationships, attract repeat business, foster brand loyalty and, thereby, hit sales targets.

I broke my sales target by a margin of some 50%, learned everything I needed to know about the Stock Business (which I rapidly decided was where I wanted to dedicate my life) and took the opportunity offered to me a year later to set up a picture library for the London Stock Exchange.

Tony Stone Worldwide went on to become Getty Images.
