Custom Section

I am a compassionate, dependable and motivated Healthcare Assistant and Mental Health Support Worker with over 8 years of experience providing high-quality care and support to adults and young people across hospitals, care homes, supported living services and mental health settings.

My passion for care developed from a personal experience supporting my father during a period of illness. Helping him through his recovery gave me a strong sense of fulfilment and inspired my commitment to supporting others. Since then, I have developed extensive experience supporting individuals with mental health needs, dementia, learning disabilities and other complex care requirements.

I am experienced in providing person-centred care, including personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility support, repositioning and pressure-area prevention. I am also confident in monitoring and recording observations, maintaining accurate care and support plans, assisting with medication where required, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and handling medical supplies and equipment appropriately.

I have significant experience working in Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) environments, supporting patients experiencing acute phases of serious mental illness. This has strengthened my ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations while providing therapeutic, individualised care focused on safety, dignity and recovery. I understand the importance of building positive professional relationships, reducing anxiety and distress, encouraging independence, and supporting individuals to participate in decisions about their care and treatment within the appropriate legal framework.

I have an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health Studies and Social Care Professions and have completed extensive mandatory and specialist healthcare training. This includes the Care Certificate, Mental Health Awareness, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Awareness, Positive Behaviour Support and Managing Challenging Behaviour, Dementia Care, Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness, Learning Disability, Epilepsy Awareness, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Moving and Handling, First Aid, Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Equality, Diversity and Human Rights.

I am an excellent communicator who works effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. I demonstrate empathy, patience, resilience and respect in my approach to every individual, while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. I also value reflection and mindfulness, which help me maintain emotional resilience and continue to provide consistent, compassionate care.

I am committed to promoting dignity, independence, inclusion and choice, while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those I support. With my extensive practical experience, relevant education, specialist training and genuine passion for helping others, I believe I can make a positive contribution to any healthcare or mental health service.
