A postgraduate student at UCL studying MSc Orthoptics, with a passion in ocular healthcare. I aim to leverage the practical experience and skills I gain amidst my education as a future Orthoptist, to make significant contributions in benefitting lives.
I am confident in my rapport building and engaging personality, especially with paediatric patients alongside adults, which would prove useful in providing a relaxed environment to patients. Ultimately, ensuring accurate diagnosis and management.
4-week block placement honing skills from placement 1.2.1 in paediatric and adult orthoptic clinics.
- Shadowed stroke and low-vision clinics alongside strabismus surgery with ophthalmologists.
- Notably, developed an interest in IVT injections.
Achieved all my learning outcomes set by my University through a 4-week block placement involved with paediatric patients, rotating between Vale Drive, Oak Lake and Grahame Park clinics.
i) Investigating and diagnosing patients with concomitant deviations.
ii) Diagnosing and classifying patients with amblyopia, as well as openly discussing management plans.
iii) Honing skills in assessment of ocular motility, testing all systems clinically and be able to record results appropriately.
iv) Demonstrated awareness of evidence based practice to enhance clinical decision making.
