Summary

Jumping from a long and successful career in healthcare to WEB3 has been dream-like. I have been able to apply my natural skill set of effective networking and engaging with others in a way that was not utilised in healthcare. I have treasured the experience afforded to me through my 2 years+ at The Nemesis Metaverse company where I have worked alongside a team of 30 plus. Here I have honed my knowledge and skills in community growth and engagement with an array of techniques and methods. I only seek to further my knowledge and experience in WEB 3 as I venture forward.

Intro

Community Manager can mean many things in WEB3, but to me, it means someone who cultivates a community that is inspired, uniting many under dynamic leadership and who fosters an inclusive environment. A great Community Manager is versatile and flexible and appeals to the diverse range of people within their community. I truly believe I possess all these traits/skill sets.

Having worked for The Nemesis Metaverse for close to 2 years now, the learning curve has been a phenomenal journey and I feel like I am ready to take a step towards something more challenging and fulfilling. While working for The Nemesis I have executed all the key points from the job description for this position. I have further honed my communication skills via countless announcements, social media content and IRL events and above all, via interaction with the community itself. I have immersed myself in web3 for the better part of 3 years and reserve a deep understanding of blockchain tech and the possibilities of its applications through a range of sectors. With The Nemesis we have handled huge clients/partners for example; Skoda, Formula 1, Magnum, Arnette, Cannes Film Festival and Consensys to name a few. I have gained experience with these networks of brands and companies and with celebrities. I appreciate the symbiotic relationships that were fostered. I believe creativity is underrated in this space and I believe I provide a creativity that brings change and alternate ideas and perspective. I have a history of creating various explosive communities which have thrived and brought a purpose to many in Web3, which will be outlined later. Furthermore, I adapt well to all situations I am put into and I am always eager to learn and take advantage of new opportunities. I believe the value of a community that is dedicated and motivated can never be under appreciated/estimated as without your community support - what purpose do you have?

Work Experience

I started work for The Nemesis in December 2021 as their Community Manager. My role was that of a typical Community Manager, but I often found myself working outside that scope as well - demonstrating my flexibility. I welcomed these opportunities and tasks as they only served to broaden my understanding, namely in regards to marketing, user acquisition/retention, and creating social content. I particularly enjoyed the insights I gained into game development and the complex dynamics behind being a game dev. I continue to proof-read and contribute suggestions for in-game text content/social content. I participate in alpha testing and have personally loved this with my long background of gaming. I currently manage a team of eight Country Community Managers (mods) for the various languages and cultures that enjoy our platform and have found this responsibility fun and rewarding. To help maintain community activity I have been implementing Zealy quests into our discord which has helped preserve activity during the bear market, all the while increasing user activity with task orientated goals on our platform. Through my work for The Nemesis I quickly learned that the best marketing and community engagement comes from someone who is enthused, passionate, forward thinking and genuine. One of the things I have enjoyed the most has been representing The Nemesis at NFT NYC, NFT London and NFC in Lisbon (I was selected as a panel speaker at NFC) and have treasured these experiences where I was given ample opportunity to network and further immerse myself into the WEB3 domain. One of the hardest challenges I have faced has been tempering expectations of the community and managing poor sentiment within the current market. This requires dynamic and thoughtful communication and I believe I have always succeeded in alleviating community stressors and reducing tensions that often build up. Outside of my direct work for The Nemesis I have consulted on various projects - specifically their community growth and interaction. I have also, in the past, consulted on discord server building.

WEB3 Journey

Web 3 Story/Background:

I was introduced to NBA Topshot in March 2021, and to say my life has changed dramatically since then, would be an understatement. I have been blown away by the power of the blockchain within this relatively new and evolving world. The learning curve I have experienced and the wealth of knowledge I have gained within the world of WEB3 has increased exponentially over the past 3 years. It is because of my understanding of people and community that I have been able to foster such an NFT heavy foIlowing on my X social.

The journey I have had on Twitter/X over the last three years has been phenomenal. I have grown from having double digit followers to over 7000. I have been innovative and launched a niche Topshot discord server that currently has over 650 members. This was all in the effort to add utility to a certain collector set. Since launching, I established branded merchandise and we even have our own NFT for set holders. I would bring this passion and innovation to any task within my job role. I am ferociously passionate about what I love and what I believe in and I believe in what blockchain technology is moving towards.

Experience outside of Web3

Experience outside of web 3:

I worked as a Physiotherapist for 12 years up until December 2021 where I honed and built an extensive skill base in this profession. I believe many of the skills I gained in this industry are highly transferable to a Community Manager role, specifically:

-dynamic team work,
-senior leadership,
-educating and directing junior staff, prioritisation and building patient rapport. -empathy

You may ask why I leapt from one profession to a completely different profession altogether? The answer is this: I find my passion runs so deep for the world of community building, of blockchain technology, and NFTs that I wanted to make this the focus of my professional life. Networking and meeting new people whom I get to share this passion with has been a true joy. I may not have had a tech background but I have immersed myself in the world of NFTs/blockchain technologies and through this have gained knowledge that I continue to nurture almost daily. I would relish the opportunity to be part of the team that brings exposure of this tech to the masses.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
