Hugh Robert Latham

During the time volunteering in animal care I have learnt many vital skills: the importance of observing and retaining detailed data, it has improved my ability to follow instructions as well as refining my ability to deal with high pressure situations including rescuing sick and injured animals. My role has also had me interact with the general public, helping build my confidence in delivering important information to those around me.

I had a weeks placement in the Northumbrian Water Group with one of the companies Planning Managers, this placement developed many skills required in a work place: learning how to handle reports, supporting a large scale event (an innovation festival) as well as the importance of communication within a team.

During my placement with TUI I was within the coding team, taking part in many interesting activities, including being involved in a meeting with the wider team. I also honed into some of my design skills, taking part in a small scale remaster of the TUI website where I created and presented my own design. During this I learned the required skills when it come to presenting your own work: clear and concise explanations of what you are presenting.
