Summary

  • Working in the offices in LCB warehouses involved using many skills and experiences such as learning new techniques quickly and using computer systems, keeping knowledge up to date of their policies and procedures, working with printers and photocopiers to produce correct and up to date paperwork. This could be a fast paced environment and required that I am prompt, punctual and able to work with speed and efficiency. Organisation skills were key when sorting out paperwork and I pride myself on working to the task in hand but also being able to multi task and prioritise. I enjoy working in a team and LCB involves being able to talk with and work with all team members from management to delivery drivers.
  • Working in Thurrock libraries involved using communication and listening skills when talking to the children and parents. I worked well with all team members and enjoyed being involved in listening and giving feedback to children and parents. I used a friendly open approach to gain the best communication. It also gave me good language understanding skills as I spoke with many children with different backgrounds and language skills. Again, I was able to use my organisation skills to assist with shelving books, general maintenance of the library and was keen to learn the admin side of logging the attendees.
  • I also participated in bronze Duke Of Edinburgh, this gave me many different skills such as, problem solving and navigation skills when working with maps and where to go if we got lost. It also gave me a good ability to achieve new talents as I had to take up a new hobby/skill to complete it.
  • I participated in the extracurricular volunteer police cadets, this gave me skills such as helping the community, respect, resilience and working well in a constructed setting. It also gave me a basic first aid training and knowledge such as CPR.
  • I also currently studying Early Years and Education T-level in college and am hoping this will give me further skills for my career and will build on my ability to work with people and in a customer service setting, I am hoping to use my can do attitude and friendly manner to gain skills in education.
