In my recent role in the NHS I have gained experience working on a paediatric ward, Gynaecology ward and also the delivery suite gaining some valuable experience as a midwifery assistant.
My roles and responsibilities :
This role consists mainly of the following day-to-day tasks:
· Being required to be responsible for the safe ordering, administering and storage of medication in line with all relevant policies and procedures.
· Supervising a dedicated team ensuring a high level of care is delivered to people who use the service.
· Managing the Rota to make sure there is always sufficient staff are always provided to cover and meet the needs of the service.
· Contributing to the ongoing assessment of service users observing any deterioration/ changes in their health and wellbeing and ensuring this is managed and recorded in an appropriate way.
· To comply with any local safeguarding and mental capacity act policies and procedures that are in place and understand why.
· Administering medication and control drugs on the correct medication round including PEG medication/ Feeds and flushing.
· To have regular supervisions with staff to support their training needs, assisting with any difficulties they encounter and supporting any personal goals/achievements they have in place.
In this apprenticeship my tasks were to:
· Scheduling appointments.
· Inputting data into software.
· Covering reception involving customer service skills.
· Answering the phone to people enquiring about the company
· Supporting Managers with their workload.
· Booking meetings, making sure all data entered the system is correct.
· Maintaining good relationships with staff from other offices.
· Working to deadlines to complete key tasks.
Although day-to-day is extremely varied.
My main roles consist of:
· Assisting service users with personal care where needed or requested.
· Completing set interventions by professionals such as Physios, Occupational/Speech therapists, and Neuropsychologists supporting users to reach their fullest potential.
· Dealing with challenging behaviours in an appropriate manner
· Administering medication at the correct times including controlled drugs.
· Attending scheduled appointments and community walks around the local area.
· Completing Care plans at the end of each shift and updating them with vital information
· Required assistance at mealtimes (where needed) promoting independence wherever possible.
