My experience over the last 13 years makes me the perfect candidate for this position. The past 10 years my work has enabled me to work with refugees and asylum seekers who have fled their countries into Sweden and Norway. During my time at the biggest transit camp in North Europe based in Norway (Haslemoen Transit Camp) I was responsible for looking after individuals who had just arrived in Norway and were seeking asylum. My responsibility was taking ownership in supporting their applications and being a guide to the relevant departments, directing them to health centres, legal advice or any other need until a stay was confirmed and settled. My language skills also enabled me to support interpreting and translating. I speak fluent Kurdish, Arabic, Norwegian, Swedish and English. This allowed me to support other departments and worked outside of my duties to help where needed. My language skills also made me the go to person with all the asylum seekers who would require assistance but could not communicate with the staff. I have a passion to work with people and help people who need it most.
My last position at Pangea/Nova in Sweden allowed me to focus all my time with young people between the ages of 14 - 21. These individuals who had arrived in Sweden without any family were under my care and responsibility day in and day out. I had built a great relationship where I was not only supporting them but also a mentor to them. I would help support these individuals with skills and self confidence, including daily activities. I would also set up a one to one meeting with every individual every two weeks to discuss progress and areas they needed help most. I would document these meetings and provide full reports to the immigration. I took great pleasure in seeing these young youth progress through our programme and develop into great young adults. I still ty or just a better life makes me a suitable candidate. I want to make a difference and I want to help people.
I am currently working as a Teacher Learning Assistant in primary school. When I started the position I worked as a one to one support. Now I have 7 pupils which are special needs , most of them have done a very good progress, they focus better and are able to follow the school policy and roles, academically they are moving forward and meeting the targets.
I believe my skills over the years with supporting people who have been out of their comfort and guiding them to the right place, be it safe.
