• Collaboration with ARMS Senior Leadership Team to identify development needs within each area.
• Streamlined procedures for logging of training (and training hours) for increased efficiency and reporting
• Currently evaluating effectiveness of technical frameworks providing feedback and making necessary adjustments when needed.
• Supporting entire GCS function with regards to Apprenticeship recruitment and ongoing programme support for existing Apprentices by way of leader guidance, learner support and stakeholder management (e.g. Learning Providers, CII and central Early Careers function)

Responsibilities within the CL Academy team include:

• Main point of contact for Apprentice cohorts in the Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) space but stretching across all of Commercial Lines in respect of onboarding, business skills & programme support
• Engaging with numerous stakeholders across CL to understand their development needs in addition to providing insights ensuring most beneficial or business critical items are prioritised.
• Responsibility of CII membership and CII Chartered status within Commercial Lines and go-to contact for both membership and professional qualifications queries.
• The updating of over 100+ items of training material for technical progression across all lines of business to ensure Underwriters have access to the most current material to support their development
• Supporting the embedment of Digital solutions (such as the Commercial Intelligence Tool) through training sessions, communications and website builds.
• Supporting other team members when it comes to creation and delivery of training material and communications.
• Creation and delivery of "onboarding sessions" to provide both a friendly and concise overview to the Commercial Lines function.

As part of the Belfast Underwriting team my responsibilities included:

• Delivering excellent service and support to brokers using consistent, timely, and proactive approach to underwriting. Assessing both new business and renewal cases, providing a whole customer solution through the support of digital tools and developing broker relationships.
• Managing workload to meet targets and agreed deadlines in addition to being a Subject Matter Expert on both new and legacy systems such as CIT, Gemini and POET
• Coaching other team members in respect of Motor Fleet and systems training which provided the opportunity to share expertise to develop others.

As the role evolved I increasingly enjoyed the less technical elements and discovered a flair for communications and people development. With an interest in Communications and Marketing I self-funded a part time Marketing course.

Signing up for learning projects helped raise my profile outside of Underwriting and was seconded to support the roll out of the Mid-Market proposition in late 2017. Later on I was successful in my application for the Emerging Leaders Programme in 2020.

Underwriting experience has helped me provide insights to the CL Academy as my focus is both on the learner experience and business return.
