Work History

Transport Manager

8 Years 8 Months
Cheshunt Metals Ltd | 01.2018 - Current
  • Cheshunt Metals was initially one of my Transport Consultancy customers where I went in once a week for 4 hours to ensure their compliancy to the Operator Licence Undertakings and Regulations. I was offered a regular job with them as Transport Manager/Administrator which fitted around my reduced business as a Transport Consultant.
  • I served customers, raised invoices for incoming and outgoing sales, created the companies policies and procedures including health and safety and fire procedures. Monitored the company’s income and spend age from a spreadsheet I created then liaise with the Directors as to the company’s financial position each week. I manage the staff training records and HR.

Transport Consultant & Transport Manager

11 Years 2 Months
Barnard Transport Logistics | 07.2015 - Current
  • Currently I run my own business as a Transport Consultant to Operator Licence Holders. I was a Transport Manager named on an operator licences with various sized fleets and multiple licences at a time whilst also consulting for other operators. My clients vary from Scaffolders, Food Distribution, Vehicle Recovery to Hauliers.
  • As a consultant my role varies from at what point I am employed, whether this is from an enquiry from someone wanting to apply for a licence and explaining the procedure and requirements, making the application, setting policies and procedures for the Company. I also assist with enquiries operators receive from DVSA by preparing the relevant requested data and paperwork, drafting a letter to the DVSA, delivering new policies and procedures that the company may not of had in place to ensure they meet the undertakings of their Operators Licence. I also provided an audit service to audit their procedure and policies and their administration, then offer best advice where changes could be made or methods for any shortcomings.
  • I pride that fact that having attended several Preliminary and Public Inquiries with the Traffic Commissioners Office, either as a Transport Consultant representing the driver or company or as a named Transport Manager on the operator’s licence. I have always come out of the Traffic Commissioners Inquiries with a ‘satisfactory finding and no further action to be taken’.
  • I have also delivered various training, to transport office staff, drivers, warehouse staff and Operator Licence holders (Directors of business) on company policies and procedures relating to the Operator Licence Undertakings and Regulations.
  • As a CPC Training I taught CPC to drivers under an umbrella of a training school. This entailed me to deliver a set module to the drivers in a way that kept them engaged for the 8 hours. Often trying to teach drivers who held more experience than me as a driver out on the road but lack of knowledge of their employers legal requirements as an Operator Licence holder.

Facilitated tender submissions for new contracts and managed client accounts, focusing on financial transactions. • Under the operator compliancy I would carry out tachograph analysis, drivers hours, Working time directive records, driving licence checks, DBS checks, warnings and disciplinary, hold interviews with new potential staff and ensure that all company documentation and records were kept updated.
  • As administration for the Engineering department I would be dealing with scheduling, accounts, booking in and administrating the company fleet maintenance alongside outside fleet maintenance and brake roller testing carried out by the workshop.
