I am currently an editor for the features page of the Gown (Queen's Student newspaper). This role involves editing articles, administering advice, and assigning article topics. I also have done investigative journalism as part of this role, including interviewing. I also personally write articles on a variety of topics, and have a passion for political journalism.
During my final year of secondary school I was co-editor of the 2023/2024 yearbook. This role involved brainstorming ideas for yearbook topics, organising events and public speaking. As co-editor I enhanced my interviewing, public speaking and organisation skills.
In 2022, I completed the Bronze Gaisce Award. This award pushed my out of my comfort zone and broadened my skill range. I was part of the ladies basketball club at my school. I completed a 25 km hike. I joined the Big Brother Big Sister programme as part of Gaisce, and was paired with younger students to support them. Myself and the team provided support to struggling youths and found myself benefitting from it, improving my communication and support skills.
As well as the student newspaper, I am also a member of the politics society at Queen's Belfast, and enjoy attending events and learning more from my peers about past and current events.
