HEATHER DIMMOCK

Northampton,Kingsthorpe

Summary

I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for pursuing a career with young people. I have worked in mainstream Primary for 8 years and have gained my HLTA qualification alongside becoming an Inclusion TA (including Family Support work and working alongside challenging behaviours). I have previously worked as a class TA and a 1:1 during my time here.

Pursuing a career as an educator has been something I have always been interested in after working in both Higher Education and Primary. I have a deep-seated desire to inspire and empower young minds and help shape children's futures and help them overcome any barriers to learning they may have, especially those with SEND.

The opportunity to play a pivotal role in a child's intellectual and personal growth is a humbling experience and I am driven by an unwaivering commitment to foster inclusivity, engagement and enrichment in learning environments, whether that is within a 1:1, small group or whole class situation.

I have a genuine care for the wellbeing of the students in my care, whilst setting boundaries for them to be able to learn in a way they find accessible. I am passionate about creating a dynamic atmosphere to cater for diverse learning styles incorporating hands-on activities, multimedia resources and thought provoking discussions to stimulate critical thinking.

Moreover, I am dedicated to being a mentor and role model and pride myself on being able to cultivate meaningful relationships with students and their families, advocating for their needs. With good dedication to educational equity and a belief in the transformative power of education, I am confident that I possess the necessary skills, knowledge and personal qualities to thrive in the right educational setting and I am commited to unlocking the limitless potential of every student entrusted to my care.

My work within the pastoral team has also allowed me to forge strong and trusting relationships with children who find education overwhelming and who may not be able to access learning in a traditional environment. I have patience and understanding, and strive to foster a restorative approach when unwanted, difficult and undesirable behaviours arise.
