I am a volunteer for the saint Vincent de Paul society at the Good Shepherd Church woodthorpe Nottingham.
I started volunteering for my local SVP Society to help support the lonely in the home .alot of the older generation haven't left there homes due to illness/anxiety's .bed bound.
I would visits two or three times a week and this would be a visit to someone's home or care home to have a talk to them and see how they are feeling and to help in anyway .
I do my visits with my visiting partner as all our visits should be done in pairs.
I help raise funds for the society so we can give out to families and food banks and we help the homeless by buying Vinnie bags and donating them to Emmanuel house .
we also helped two local schools with food parcels for students that are in need .
We visit our local Nottingham prison and spend some time with the prisoners.
I love help to organise our Christmas and spring parties for the people we visit to get them out the home to the local church hall this is a fun time for all involved and even more fun for those we visit to get them out there homes and together as a group .
I have recently done a prison visit and attended a service there and met some lovely people and should be visiting again in the near future.
I really enjoy doing my volunteering work as I get to go out meet lots of new people and talk to others and see how they are feeling.
I have recently had talks with a manager from a ward at our local hospital and they are also interested in using our volunteer service on some wards that are needing some support.
Being apart of the saint Vincent de Paul society has given me the drive to keep wanting to do more and adding more service's to the areas that are needing them.
I have recently just made treasury of the saint Vincent de Paul society and always looking for new challenges.
