  • Undertaking a full range of offender management tasks with individuals convicted by the Courts assessed at all levels of risk of serious harm including high and very high, including scheduled face to face contact in line with organisation policies at home or within a professional setting.
  • Management of a high caseload of individuals and retaining individual responsibility for the management of these from the outset to completion of a sentence period.
  • Completion of thorough and robust risk assessments, with ongoing review in response to positive and negative changes and adapting the individual assessment accordingly.
  • Daily multi-agency working with other Criminal Justice System organisations and professional bodies to assist with public protection, reduce re-offending and promote rehabilitation of individuals, with information sharing in accordance with agreed protocols.

  • Preparation of pre-sentence reports for the Court in respect of risk assessment and recommendation for a suitable sentence for offences committed by an individual, including the provision of a risk assessment for the purpose of public protection.
  • Completion of Parole reports to assist the Parole Board in respect of decision making regarding the progression of an individual during their custodial sentence. These include a detailed overall analysis regarding the offences committed, their personal history, beliefs and behaviours from a vast range of resources and information; with a reflection and analysis of further behaviours and progression throughout sentence. A recommendation for further work to be completed, interventions for progression and a plan to manage risk in the community should release be directed are a fundamental part of each report.
  • Attending formal meetings and hearings, presenting information prepared and provided to a judicial body, with the content of this being open to challenge, further explanation and questioning by attendees; whilst representing the Probation Service in a professional manner.
  • Ample experience of Child and Adult Safeguarding, working with vulnerable individuals, families, professionals and organisations to implement viable plans for long term safeguarding, to promote change and ensure robust contingency plans are in place.
  • Experience of delivering accredited training and in house training relating to role development and ability to assess risk.
  • Member of focus groups to develop interventions to be delivered, test systems prior to implementation and feedback regarding effectiveness and recommend change or adaptations for improvement as required.
  • Extensive experience of mentoring staff with their progression in numerous roles during training to assist with ensuring they are able to complete their role to a high standard.
  • Long term member of a Staff Support Team and a Mental Health Ally providing advice and support to staff of all grades on a regional level.
