Work History

Toolmaker

Caterpillar
Peterlee, Tyne and Wear
07.2019 - Current

As an experienced toolmaker, I have a background in precision machining, tool design, and fabrication. I am skilled in interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to create high-quality, custom tools and parts for various manufacturing processes. My expertise includes operating CNC machines, lathes, and other specialized equipment. With a keen attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality, I have consistently contributed to improving overall product and manufacturing performance in every project I undertake.

Initially I completed a 4 year apprenticeship where I learned all of the above skills but also how Caterpillar Peterlee operates. I am well aligned with all of Caterpillars Core Values and have been taught the correct way to carry myself from my peers and superiors. The most influential time I spent during my apprenticeship which will help my progression in the long run was a 6 month rotation in Tooling Design. While in this rotation I completed numerous Jig and Tool requests seeing them through from liaising with Manufacturing engineers, Designing tools / fixtures myself and finally Manufacturing them in the Toolroom. I was awarded "Outstanding Contributor" for a safety device I designed following a recordable incident whereby a peer was injured.

Kitchen designer

As a kitchen designer, I specialized in transforming client visions into functional and aesthetically pleasing kitchen spaces. With expertise in layout planning, cabinetry design, and material selection, I worked closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring each design maximized both style and efficiency. I gained experience using CAD software to create precise floor plans and 3D renderings, and I was skilled in coordinating with contractors and suppliers to bring designs to life. My focus on customer satisfaction, combined with a strong understanding of modern design trends, allowed me to deliver kitchens that were both beautiful and highly functional

My attention to detail was key in maintaining precise inventory levels and ensuring all equipment was in top working condition. Additionally, I developed a strong ability to communicate clearly with both team members and customers, coordinating efficiently to resolve issues, optimize workflow, and enhance operational processes.

Vehicle dismantler

Trade Parts North East
Sunderland, Tyne and Wear
01.2018 - 05.2018

As a vehicle dismantler, I was responsible for efficiently and safely disassembling vehicles, carefully removing and cataloging parts for reuse or recycling. I developed a strong understanding of automotive systems, identifying key components and analyzing their structure, function, and potential for repurposing. This hands-on experience enhanced my ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and apply critical thinking to disassembly processes. I worked closely with a team to improve workflow efficiency and ensure compliance with safety regulations, while also considering the practical implications of component reuse.

Engineering work placement

Unipres
