As a outdoor instructor for Hilltop outdoor centre, i have been tasked with providing our clients with fun, safe and educational trip to our centre. This includes providing activity sessions for our clients, ranging from children aged 8 to adult groups, as well as clients with additional needs or disabilties. These activities require me to work at heights and also in smaller confined spaces, while looking after the saftey of myself, my team and our clients. during these activities i aim to teach our clients how to overcome any challenges we present them. But i also provide them with some tools to understand any situation they are in how to deal with any stress or fears they might have. As when they leave Hilltop our aim is that they leave with more confidence in themselves and others, but also the tools to understand stressful situations will always arise. but how to deal with them to not only survive it but to overcome any challenge they might face. Over the years i have been chosen for multiple additional roles, these include training staff members in new activities on how to run the safely an effectivly. I also aid my managers in training staff mebers how to safely access our ropes courses and traverse along them at heights of up to 14m, additional to this i help them train in rescue techniques, ensuring the safety of the rescuers and the rescuee, while maintaing a proffessional manner and providing the upmost care. I am also consulted in developing these rescue techniques to make them more efficent and safe while utilising new technology and methods, but ensuring all staff are trained to use them as well. One of my larger roles is being in charge of the centres PPE(personal protective equipment) department. This role includes maintaining and checking all of our PPE to ensure it is safe for use, as well as reparing and issues (where applicable). I also am in charge of training staff how to properly check the equpment in its function and care, this includes how to properly clean and maintain them. I am reponsible for also doing stock checks and ordering new equpiment when needed, plus researching new equipment to improve the saftey or efficiency of our work. I have been in charge of this for the last 3 years.
