Manager with specialism - Fitness

Abbeycroft Leisure
Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
06.2021 - 11.2022

The quick progression from apprentice to Manager in just two years proves my high levels of dedication, professionalism and motivation to succeed. The role entailed that I was responsible for the hiring, training and management of all gym staff.

  • I have shown the ability to think critically by regularly evaluating the group exercise programme to see how each class is performing. I then decided whether to change, curtail or add classes to the schedule accordingly to improve the experience of our members.
  • By handling the gym team rota, sick days and annual leave requests I further strengthened my organizational skills.
  • I thrived in the role of a leader, always being on hand to my staff as a confidant for any requests or concerns and handling regular reviews that have helped to improve the day-to-day performance of my staff.
  • As gym manager I held the highest level of responsibility of those on site and thus was entrusted with important tasks such as dealing with all customer complaints and enquiries, cash ups of the reception and café and the opening and closing of the site each day.
  • On the side I managed to continue my passion of training a range of individuals, for whom I would create tailored exercise programmes and deliver these programmes in the most professional and engaging manner possible.

  • I created many goal specific training programmes for individuals with various health issues including sciatica, type 2 diabetes, muscular dystrophy etc.
  • When creating training programmes, I use various training methods, I can also tailor them for people looking to reach sport specific goals e.g. Plyometric training for footballers looking to improve their explosive power or runners looking to strengthen their ligaments in order to have a more efficient running economy etc.
  • I frequently ran HIIT classes for up to 10 people with the main goal of burning as many calories as possible in a 30-minutes period.
  • In this role I had my first exposure to developing and improving my social skills / adaptability.
