I am a final year Medical student at Swansea University Medical School studying medicine on an accelerated graduate entry course. I previously studied Biomedical sciences at the University of Birmingham where I achieved a 2:1. I have a special interest in and hope to pursue a career in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine.

  • Clinical Placements
    First and Second Year:
    Completed 18 weeks of clinical placements, gaining early exposure to core medical and surgical disciplines.
    Third Year: Completed 40 weeks of full-time clinical placements in a range of medical and surgical specialties, consolidating clinical skills in both ward-based and outpatient settings.
    Final Year (Current) (pre-elective): Will complete an additional 18 weeks of placement prior to the clinical elective in General Practice, Urology and Geriatrics.
  • Placement Specialty Experience
    Anaesthetics (5 weeks):
    Gained insight into perioperative care, airway management, analgesia, and patient optimisation. Developed practical skills in intubation, airway management, cannulation, venepuncture, intraoperative monitoring, and post-anaesthetic recovery.
    Intensive Care Unit (1 week): Observed management of critically ill patients requiring advanced organ support. Exposure to multidisciplinary teamwork, ventilatory support, fluid balance, and sepsis management.
    Other Medical and Surgical Specialties: Multiple Broad-based placements across medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties, enhancing history taking, diagnostic reasoning, clinical examination, patient communication, multi-disciplinary teamwork and procedural competence.

Attended multiple skills workshops in fibreoptic intubation, airway management and ultrasound cannulation as a member of Swansea university's anaesthetics society. Further developed existing skills and consolidated current skills. Additionally learnt and expanded my skillset with new techniques not taught in the medical school curriculum.

Undertook audits in my own time relating to liver biopsy outcomes based on specific biopsy needle alongside a consultant radiologist, producing and analysing relevant data in order to improve clinical practise and patient outcomes.


Presented audit to Swansea Bay University hospital trust radiology department and discussed the significance of results and their impact on patient outcomes, solidifying presentation skills and enhancing communication skills.
