Catering is a different type of hosptiality as there is a lot more pressure as a Bartender. Preparing well but with constant awareness and communication between others throughout service. As I still do the events I have become more aware of how customers especially the hosts in how they want there event to go by just listening and understanding with a hint of knowledge.
Given the tasks we carry out have given me a serious knowledge with all sorts of gardening but some other jobs that may not be in the task and just to handle the task given with some common sense. Working with high risky machinery and equipment has helped me with day to day life tasks.
Setting up and putting down marquee's around the country with all sorts and sizes of marquees
Learnt how to do service and bartendering and waitering all in one throughout the summer during a very busy period. Greeting customers and learning ways to give them the highest level of satisfaction when leaving the pub. Working in the kitchen helped show the high level of intensity they work in and how we need to look out for all workers.
learnt a vast amount of skills working on the site. Gardening was a main job with learning how to use all tools and machinery. Whilst accepting the weather pushing through and just learning how to not injure and minimize risk. learned how to fix and what to put in certain machinery helped with just my knowledge.
I was Head Barmen through the Christmas events which taught me to communicate and take more of a leading role around other colleages. Whilst being supported bt also supporting others when doing tasks that i may have learnt over my hosptality experiences.
Picking and Packing Jewelry i learnt very quickly being then promoted to pick clothing and complete most tasks in the warehouse. meeting a diverse amount of people really helped me learn how to commmunicate and feel confident with others of a different culture.
I learnt more sophisticated drinks as this was known as the rum bar. My bartendering skills became more advanced and feeling more comfortable with timings of drinks and how to interact with customers.
Learning new skills was very useful and to know how a large chained company runs. But the most important skill was learning something new and meeting new peiple and learning how to fork drive which was the more fun part of the job.
It was an exciting experience being my first job. I started working as just a waiter and after carrying out day to day activites, i learnt very quickly and learned how to bartender and various other aspects in the hosptiality sector.
I completed 7 marathons in 7 day consecutive days , running from the east coast to the west coast of England, covering over+ km with 8,000m of elevation , raising £7000+ for Alzheimer's Society and Meningitis Charities.
