My job responsibilities included caring for patients in the outpatient clinics as well as managing inpatients. This involved conducting full physical examinations, writing admission notes, and initiating immediate management after discussing with senior colleagues.

I worked with Dr. Rehman at a substance abuse rehabilitation center, where my duties included conducting extensive and comprehensive evaluations of new admissions, writing progress notes on patients seen with my supervisor, conducting educational groups for patients, actively participating in interdisciplinary meetings, group therapies, and service-wide didactics, and educating and counseling patients on various health issues and their concerns.

I worked with Dr. Ramchand Thadhani, which was a valuable learning experience. My responsibilities included taking patient histories and writing clinical notes. I was exposed to a variety of cases across different specialties, including Psychiatry, Medicine, and Paediatrics. This experience also strengthened my understanding of the healthcare system in the United States.

I assisted Dr. Barry Reisberg in his clinical practice from May 2008 to August 2008. Dr. Reisberg, M.D. is the Clinical Director of the Silberstein Aging & Dementia Research Center at New York University School of Medicine. In his clinical practice, each session lasts for three hours. I was introduced to patients and their caregivers who have consented to share their medical records with me. I used to review these records and discuss relevant medical problems. I then closely observed Dr. Reisberg taking history and administering neuropsychiatric batteries to patients. I also performed neuropsychiatric tests such as the Empirical Behavioral Pathology in Alzheimer's disease (E-BEHAVE-AD) assessment under Dr. Riesberg's supervision. This was followed by individual and family counseling.

I worked with Dr. Santosh Kumar for three months at Dr. Ziauddin University Hospital. My responsibilities included detailed history taking, physical examinations, and formulating treatment plans. Additionally, I performed specific evaluations and discussed differential diagnoses and management options. This role provided an excellent opportunity to observe a wide range of patients and further develop my clinical management skills

I worked at Smithville Medical Associates under the supervision of Dr. Ramchand Thadhani, M.D., for four months. Smithville Medical Associates is a private group providing outpatient services. I observed Dr. Thadhani performing diagnostic assessments through history and examination, discussing appropriate laboratory and other investigations, and outlining care plans and follow-up management.

I was actively involved in a retrospective study entitled ‘Drug Use During Pregnancy: A Pharmaco-epidemiological Study’. This was a multicentre study comprising five sampling units, one of which was The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH). AKUH is a 542-bed tertiary care hospital and one of the first teaching hospitals in the world to receive Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) for meeting internationally recognised quality standards in healthcare.

My responsibilities included data collection and analysis under the supervision of qualified research faculty.

The Surgical Unit at Lyari manages a wide variety of surgical cases from patients of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. My responsibilities included caring for inpatients and managing patients in the ambulatory clinics. I assisted with surgical procedures in the operating theatres and performed minor procedures under the supervision of my attending.
