Supervisor

Specsavers Opticians
08.2018 - Current

As a weekend supervisor it is my duty to ensure that the store is run efficiently and to the highest degree of service. I am responsible for all staff and training over the weekend and pride myself on maintaining a positive, collaborative and supportive environment. My role has further developed my leadership skills and provided the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. I am comfortable and confident in high responsibility roles and have the ability to problem solve and make quick judgement calls under pressure.

  • Running the shop floor, delegating tasks to the work team, ensure clinics are on schedule, answering work related queries, assisting with complex issues, handling customer complaints, planning and presenting weekly training sessions, opening and closing the store, cash handling and banking
  • Coordinate monthly one to one meetings with all weekend staff to ensure they feel supported and provide a safe space if they are having any personal or work-related worries

Instructor

WOMANity Project
05.2016 - Current
  • WOMANity project is a community led organisation which contributes to the safety and wellbeing of women and girls through teaching self-defence workshops for free. A majority of workshop attendees have experienced some form of trauma and so I have a duty to ensure the workshops are empowering and trauma informed. As an instructor I have learned how to communicate effectively in group settings and deliver information in an easy and understandable manner. Being part of discussions around violence against women from those who have personal experiences, I am comfortable being faced with sensitive information and employ active listening and empathy.

    • Assist in running the class and teaching self defence
    • Run specific workshops for International Women’s Day and elimination of violence against women
    • Partner with charities and organisations to bring self-defence to other areas
