I am a dedicated music teacher with a track record of widening participation in school music by increasing the amount of timetabled music hours, designing and constantly improving inclusive yet ambitious curricula and co-curricula opportunities, and implementing whole-school initiatives to build and grow a school-wide musical culture. At the core of my teaching and leadership philosophy is the mantra, 'teach music musically' and the belief that all students, whatever challenges they face, should have the opportunities to experience, make and explore music. To this end I have led school trips that have taken whole year groups to see world-class musicians perform, as well as led trips to relaxed concerts, specifically catered to students with specific SEND needs. I am able to support students to perform and compose the music that they are passionate about, being competent on a number of instruments, as well as in the use of music technology, and am experienced in leading and accompanying choirs and instrumental ensembles, with particular skill for arranging and adapting music to suit diverse student needs and abilities.
With great support from school leadership to grow the music department, I have:
I completed my HPITT with Teach First at Trentham Academy and have been the music teacher there ever since. I gained QTS in 2023 and my PGDE in 2024.
