ST3 anaesthetics - DGH with advanced regional interest, 3 months of ITU , 3 months of obstetric oncall, 6 months general oncalls.
Novel post, coined to provide regional and pain services in a busy DGH.
Organising and facilitating simulation sessions for medical students, foundation doctors, nurses, and anaesthetic trainees. The post became of vital importance in preparation for the pandemic as we have worked closely with our clinical leads to provide simulation sessions for the anaesthetic team to manage COVID-19 related scenarios, as well as the surgical doctors and scrub teams for donning and doffing, and proning.
This post was conducted along side full oncall-time anaesthetic and ITU clinical role.
Full time anaesthetic ST3+ trust fellow post, providing anaesthetic, intensive care and pain services in a busy Surrey DGH.
International Training fellow (ST3+) for anaesthetics and ITU. The post covered two sites (University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich). During this time i have achieved the essential preliminary sign offs and was able to familiarise myself with UK practice.
Ain Shams university hospital is one of the largest tertiary university hospitals in Egypt, with approximately 2000 beds and more than 70 ICU beds, serving as a healthcare centre with several specialised hospitals that are the first or the most advanced in the area in their respective field (e.g. Toxicology centre, Cardiothoracic surgery specialised Academy). It’s residency program is regarded as one if the toughest, most competitive and educative on a national scale that brings together clinical experience in anaesthesia for General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Endoscopic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT Surgery, Ophalmology, Vascular Surgery, and ICU experience covering Surgical ICU, Burn ICU and General Critical Care. I have achieved all my core training competencies in this post and excelled in all the academic and clinical outcomes intended.
Added to the above mentioned duties, I have also had non clinical duties including:
The duties of the Senior resident include assigning workloads, making the rotations for all the residential duties including on calls and extensions, supervise and coaching new residents.
Senior House officer Post covering mixed Surgical and medical A&E duties, achieving all the intended learning outcomes over the period of 5 months and 4 days prior to starting anaesthetic training.
Started Training at ASU as foundation doctor, finishing all the intended rotations with achieving all the intended learning outcomes, qualifying for Full registration with the Egyptian medical doctors union with license to practice.

Confident to independently practice Anesthesia in most adult and paediatric settings, limited neonatal experience but can practice with distant support Has previous experience in developing world setting and trauma (refer to experience in Egypt during the Arab Spring)
Range of anaesthetic skills include but not limited to airway management including video laryngoscopy, has been trained on front of neck access, IV access (central and peripheral, including access for renal replacement therapy), Plan A blocks in adults, limited pediatric regional anaesthesia
