Tulip Dental

I was given the opportunity to shadow different dentists within the practice and witness several procedures (such as: bone grafting, crown and bridgework) where I engaged with the dentist to fully comprehend and appreciate the importance of manual dexterity to perform intricate movements. I began to appreciate the key of communication and compassion within a working environment. whilst engaging with other patients, my compassionate nature and practical skills were refined, as I was able to participate within certain procedures, such as x-rays and forming impressions for retainers.
Work Experience
Pharmacy Medicines
2018.07 - 2018.07
The work experience placement I was given at pharmacy medicines gave me the privilege to shadow a pharmacist with several years of experience. I found this experience highly advantageous, as it gave me a great insight into to this line of work, and truly understand what a pharmacist typically does in their day-to-day work. The reason as to why I found this experience beneficial was essentially due to the fact that it actually gave me a greater understanding of this profession, so I was able to comprehensively understand as to whether or not I would enjoy this line of work and whether or not I would want to pursue it. However, it also provided me a different presentation of a pharmacy as this was an internet-based pharmacy and helped enable my decision if this was what I would prefer or not.

VOLUNTARY WORK
Park House Care Home, I was able to work closely with patients with dementia; representing a good reflection of my ability to work with all age groups, with diversity and extend my ability to adapt well. I was given the responsibility to organise weekly/ fortnightly events for the residents, for instance bake offs, Christmas carol singing, etc and had to contact the appropriate people for those events.
All Saints Primary School, I spent the afternoons assisting children from disadvantaged backgrounds, with their literacy and numeracy skills. I was able to develop their work ethic and provide extra support. My dedication, commitment to quality of care and admirable interpersonal skills were exemplified by working with all levels of management and by developing the ability to put children at ease.
ACTIVITIES
I have completed regular voluntary work at several places, such as Park House Care Home and also All Saint’s Primary school. I have a qualification in ‘junior sports leader award’ (jsla). In this I coached young children many sports. I achieved a Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh award. I have taken part in a smoking campaign with the RSPH to help show the risks and damages of smoking. I have participated in an international programme for Spanish at my school, where I had to assist in an educational integration for students visiting my school and had taken the responsibility as being their ‘buddy’ in lessons and leisure times throughout the school day, as well as offering support and understanding in an international cultural exchange. This had taken place for a month
