My job involved supporting and being a second scrub nurse with the doctors throughout procedures which include adults and children having angiogram, angioplasty, pacemaker implantation, and ablations. Working in a sterile environment. i would also be a runner, making sure the patient was comfortable and pain free throughout the procedure. Communication with the team was important as the patient could be compromised with their heart. Giving life saving medication when need, I would be involved being part a team of physiologist, radiologist, doctors. and some time resuscitation team. I was
also part of a 24 hour on call team for heart attacks.
Working on male and female surgical ward, that had injuries and spinal trauma, Managing my case load, from basic hygiene needs, to monitoring patient neuro conditions, Medication and IV therapy. My experience in the acute medical unit this a 48 hour stop over for patient referred from the GPs, ambulance service or transferred from accident and emergency department.
