I'm a Critically creative academic researcher pushing to work towards further study in law and sociological studies. I have designed, researched and executed an empirical sociological study on the effects of modern law. Ambition fuels my keen, detail orientated workflow to deliver accurate and original pieces of literature.
After reviewing a particular standout piece of coursework, I was invited to join the board of editors for the second edition of the Glasgow Caledonian University law journal. As part of the board, it is my duty to make directorial decisions as part of a team as to the formatting of the final journal. We organise drop-in sessions, promote and plan events to showcase work and to entice students to take part. In this role I am the most senior student editor. I communicate with various members of both staff and student bodies and utilise my knowledge in academic writing to further others. The new edition will be published late summer 2025.
Over the course of 12 weeks I proposed, researched and digitally displayed a qualitative research project.
I interviewed 3 participants and extrapolated from their experience phenomenological data that could be analysed through feminist social theories and employment law. This culminated in a digital poster where my creative design and written communication skills were utilized to make something eye-catching and informative to an audience of laymen and my peers. The research covers new topics of casual labour and uncovers trends in hospitality employment generally unknown to the public. From this research I successfully delivered not only on deadlines set by the trust but also extrapolated my data in presentations to Glasgow Caledonian University Staff to demonstrate my research skills.
I have worked in 2 fast paced environments in both Edinburgh and Glasgow serving customers from all over the world in some of the most trafficked pubs in Scotland. Consistently throughout my time working in hospitality I have been known as a reliable member of staff who completes tasks on time and to a consistent, excellent standard, even when under immense pressure. There was no better way to hone my customer service, communication and problem solving skills than working in a pub.
As a team member in the warehouse, I was responsible for ensuring that orders were ready for pick up, that the shop floor was stocked and that the main warehouse was clean. I was often trusted alone to catalogue donations, get pieces ready for deliver and for moving large pieces that were scheduled. This took time management and administrative skills, while also being a mostly physical labour job.
