- I spent two weeks volunteering at the aquarium.
- Prepared food for the animals.
- Cleaned animal tanks.
- Checked the temperature, including the salinity of the tanks.
- I gave talks at the shark and skate pool, the octopus display, including the rock pool display.
- I engaged with customers as well as answering any questions they had about the animals.
- Conducted regular health checks on animals, identifying any signs of illness or distress for immediate attention.
- I asked the experienced aquarists whom I shadowed about any concerns, and helped them out with what they needed.
- The aquarium had a lobster hatchery, so I assisted in separating stage 4 lobsters into a hive to be released into the wild.
I enjoyed all the jobs/ tasks I was given, especially talking to customers who were interested in marine life. The talks went well, which I did on my own.
