I am experienced and dedicated, with three years of hands-on experience supporting children across a wide range of ages and needs. Throughout my career, I have worked closely as a 1-1 with multiple students, each presenting unique challenges and strengths, which required me to adapt my approach to provide tailored support that promotes both academic progress and personal development. I have developed the ability to assess situations quickly and adjust strategies to best suit the individual needs of each student, ensuring that they feel supported, motivated, and included in every aspect of school life.
I pride myself on being a reliable and quick-thinking team player who thrives in busy, dynamic environments. Building trusting, positive relationships with the young people I work with has always been at the heart of my practice, and I believe that strong connections between staff and students are essential in supporting emotional regulation, developing resilience, and fostering a love of learning.
I am passionate about creating an environment where every child feels valued, understood, and empowered to achieve their full potential, regardless of the challenges they may face. My commitment is to give each student the strongest possible foundation for their future, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed. I am fully devoted to contributing positively to the school community and the lives of the young people I support.
As a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, I support the class teacher in delivering lessons by working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning, manage behaviour, and help with classroom routines and preparation. I also provide dedicated 1-1 support to two children with specific needs—one during break time and another during lunchtime. This involves ensuring their safety, encouraging positive social interactions, supporting emotional regulation, and helping them engage in appropriate activities during these less structured parts of the day. My role includes monitoring behaviour, facilitating inclusion, and promoting well-being, while also remaining vigilant to any safeguarding concerns and reporting them in line with school policy.
As an Assistant PE Teacher, I had the opportunity to travel to different schools, providing support for physical education programs across various locations. My role involved assisting lead teachers with preparing equipment and helping students engage in physical activities. I worked closely with students of all ages, encouraging participation, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment during lessons and activities. Additionally, I adapted my approach based on each school's specific needs and culture, allowing me to build strong relationships with students and staff in diverse settings. This role honed my organisational skills, adaptability, and ability to communicate effectively in dynamic and ever-changing environments.
In my role as a 1-1 Teaching Assistant, I provided dedicated support to one child with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. I worked closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external agencies to adapt learning activities, implement tailored strategies, and create a supportive environment that helped the child access the curriculum and develop positive relationships. Alongside my classroom responsibilities, I also supported the wider school community through my work in the Breakfast and After-School Clubs, where I helped create a safe, nurturing space for all children to engage in structured and creative activities. This experience has strengthened my ability to build strong, trusting relationships, manage challenging behaviours positively, and support children's growth both academically and socially.
During my time as a Teaching Assistant at this school, I balanced supporting the class with providing targeted 1-1 support for three children, each with varying additional needs. I adapted my approach to suit each child, working alongside teachers and support teams to ensure they received the encouragement and structure needed to thrive. My role demanded patience, creativity, and the ability to quickly adjust strategies to meet changing needs throughout the day. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how to foster independence, build positive relationships, and create an inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.
I am currently studying online to complete my A-Level in psychology where the hours are completely flexible. I have completed numerous training days, including; a neurodiversity training day (specialising in ADHD), I have been to other schools to look at different retrieval methods, I have been to a day course at Cheltenham campus to do seminars on phonics and grammar and an insight on relationship building between myself and the children and between peers themselves.
