Accomplishments

Lead 3 Year Arbitration case

  • I was chosen by Premier Oil to lead an arbitration case which arose on Premier's operated assets in Indonesia which centred around the right to charge certain high costs to the Joint Venture account. This was a complex project lasting 3 years and heard in the court of Arbitration in London. It required a deep understanding of the production sharing contracts in Indonesia. I was responsible for working alongside the business, external lawyers and working with our Joint Venture Partners (who brought the case). I stood as an expert witness in the case. We won the case with a high value cash settlement.

Established key systems for Financial Reporting

  • Researched / chose and implemented the key financial systems for Group reporting / budgeting and forecasting for Premier Oil plc. The systems delivered continuous improvements to the organization for many years and were still used at the time of the Harbour Energy merger. This allowed month end reporting to be streamlined to just a few work days post month end, delivering results 10 work days earlier. Also allowing much earlier insight to company performance and results ahead of external reporting deadlines.
  • Online Corporate Approval System
  • Replaced a paper based approval process with an efficient online system, in line with the delegation of authority. Allowed visibility of material approvals granted over and above budget. It improved efficiency, reduced timeline for approvals and improved understanding and compliance with DOA.

Established Group Board Report

  • Reformatted content of Group Board report, delivered monthly to strict deadlines and relied on heavily to report performance across the Group for all operational and financial disciplines including; Top 10 Risks; HSE performance, Production and operational performance; Group KPIs; Financial actual and forecasts vs Budget and prior forecast. The Board report was delivered to strict / tight month end deadlines. Considered 'outstanding' document by independent corporate review of the business by Boston Consulting / Deloitte.
