As a Multi-drop Delivery Porter my duties and responsibilities consist of:

  • Ensuring all packages ranging from 10 – 90kg arrive at the appropriate destination on time in the customers pre allocated time slot.

  • Troubleshooting and carrying out the logistics of getting large/heavy or awkward goods into the customers property the safest and easiest way possible.

Design Plan Lighting Ltd are a company that have been making weather and vandal resistant luminaries for fifty years. They supply Lighting for places such as Train/Tube stations, Hospitals, Prisons and street lighting amongst others.

Whilst working at Design Plan Lighting Ltd I worked in the cell department which handled all fittings that where too complicated/precise to be put along the assembly line, including Re-works, samples, prototypes and fittings requiring specific specifications. My main duties/responsibilities consisted of:

  • The start to finish assembly, wiring, testing and quality control/packaging of a wide variety of products both in style and functionality.
  • To ensure the all fittings are assemble to a high standard maintaining a high quality control Vidal.
  • To ensure all fittings are wired accurately, safely and neatly.
  • To run appropriate tests to ensure each fitting is safe and functioning correctly.
  • To ensure all gaskets and attachments are precisely applied neat and correctly.
  • To inspect the re-work fittings troubleshoot and diagnose the fault source and fit the appropriate replacement parts and restore to original standard ready for re-shipping.
  • To troubleshoot/diagnose any electrical or assembly or quality issues with the prototypes and fittings requiring specific specifications.
  • To undertake the start to finish assembly of sample fittings ensuring that every sample is manufactured to the highest quality ready for the sales team to show potential customers.
  • To work as part of a team on various projects and large orders to ensure the promised delivery date is met.

The Croydon Clocktower Is a Council run arts based complex consisting of a Theatre, Cinema, Conference hire hall and room space, Wedding & other event hire, Museum and Galleries.

  • As Duty Manager I was responsible for overseeing security staff and ensuring the effective locking and unlocking of various areas throughout the Croydon Clocktower complex including; windows, doors, cupboards and deactivation of various appliances.
  • To act as fire marshal and coordinate evacuations and investigate the incident ensuring building safety/security prior to repopulating the building. To liaise with emergency services where applicable. Act as main keyholder/operator of fire and security alarm panel.
  • Ensuring that all areas are clean, well presented and conform to all Health and Safety, Licensing and Fire Regulations
  • Ensuring appropriate and adequate equipment/furniture arrangement for various live events, conferences, weddings etc are laid out.
  • To inspect and remedy damage/vandalism as well as observe and maintain fixtures/equipment throughout the building and repair where necessary including door handles, hinges, locks etc and other general repairs.
  • To be responsible for making sure the buildings Health and Safety is adequate through daily safety checks/procedures and pre performance checks. Making sure all walk ways are clean and clear to avoid slipping and tripping, that fire regulations are being upheld (extinguishers in correct places, fire doors closed, fire exit signs lit and clearly marked and space maximum capacity is not breached). Ensuring lifting and handling procedures are being performed whilst setting up for events. Complying with all Health and Safety legislation and license regulations, by maintaining awareness and their application/implementation in the work place, including adequate security implementations. Ensuring the welfare and safety of customers/visitors in the public venue.
  • To deliver dynamic, efficient and responsive front-line front of house operations in the Arts & Heritage Service implementing high standards of customer care
  • Responsibility for cash management in Front of House facilities including box office and bars
  • Supervising and working on events held in the various areas of the building such as The Braithwaite Hall Theatre space, David Lean Cinema Museum of Croydon, Riesco, Exhibition Galleries, Clocktower Activities Room, and the Arts and Media workshops.
  • To organise and work on a wide range of events interacting with a large variety of people of different ages, race's, sexual orientation, physical and mental disability, having a good understanding of the importance of treating people with equal enthusiasm regardless of their individual need therefore allowing everyone to be given an equal amount of opportunity.
  • Managing the operation of the Balcony and Braithwaite Bars including being responsible for handling petty cash, floats and bar income and safekeeping of all money received and ensuring sufficient coinage and notes are available for both bars.
  • To act as the buildings certified First Aider.
  • To liaise directly with external and internal customers, to include technicians, caterers, promoters, artists, contractors etc., to establish requirements and to maximise customer/client satisfaction.
  • Assisting the Senior Front-of-House Manager with the organisation of staffing rota.
  • Covering some administrative duties e.g. ordering stock, filling in attendance/time sheets.

Delivery Drivers Mate - working alongside drivers delivering goods, loading and unloading delivery vehicles, map reading, dealing with delivery paperwork/documents, general manual handling/heavy lifting.

Hospital Porter- support patients by helping them to move around the hospital, for example, from a ward to the x-ray department, help patients into wheelchairs or onto trolleys, take them to appointments and then back to their ward, take meals to patients, transferring the laundry to the laundry rooms.

Office Porter– Office relocating, general manual handling/heavy lifting,

Removal Man- Helping individuals to move house, moving items around, securing them in a lorry or van and transporting them to the next location, general manual handling/heavy lifting including up and downs stairs etc.

Cladding Installer –Fitting and assembling American style fridges, adding steel cladding.
