I can work in any roles within a school setting if I apply to it. I am a results-oriented teacher before I am a manager and proud to lead by example. I like a slight degree of competitiveness.
I have learned to start and finish long-and short-term objectives and I can offer resourceful approaches to challenges that other team members might have.
It has been easy for me to promote employee motivation and keep my department daily operations aligned with goals as I am a good listener as well as a proactive manager and moreover I am diplomatic in mediating conflicts and enhance team collaboration.
I believe I am multitasking and visionary.
I have been promoted Head of Mathematics after a few year in the same school, first as a teacher then as a second in department. I have worked closely with the SLT to change the school around from inadequate to outstanding and then continued to maintain the results' successful trend and the outstanding value added as well as the top place in the country and in the borough.
An important aspect in moving things forward was monitoring students data, identifying students needing additional support and managing interventions.
But there are the infinite skills that are not just practical that are just as important. These have included the support I have always been given to less experienced team members to develop great teaching practice, the encouragement of students to attend and participate in interventions for exams and in anything relating to maths, like the UK maths challenge, the trips to other school in the borough were maths competition were held and the successful running of the STEM club (as a London finalist and winner of a London competition I have taken the winning project and students for 2 days to the Birmingham Big Bang event).
I have been in charge and experienced the development of teaching materials and programmes of study at least 3 times all in accordance to the new initiatives and/or National Numeracy strategy and new syllabus for the exams, and provided stimulating and nurturing classroom and learning environments to help students develop as learners by modelling good examples of classrooms and corridor displays. I have been honoured to have worked under the directions of many outstanding teachers and managers
I have worked in my school as a maths teacher during the first few years, then I was appointment as a KS3 coordinator.
My main role was to prepare KS3 differentiated tests in line with scheme of work and then distribute them, work alongside the Head of department and headteacher analysing data and preparing new sets as well as moving students up or down sets. For this reason a major developmental experience has been my communication skills. During this time I begun to lease with the LST members in charge of learning, the department head, the teachers, the parents and the students.
I also helped to prepare and update annual departmental plans and started to become ambitious enough to want a position as a head of department and developed a department vision for next years
I have been a mentor for new member of staff.
Overall I was in effect filling in all roles and responsibility that my head of department required.
I started in my current school as a PGCE teacher in my second placement and I was offered the position as a maths teacher.
My main role was to teach inspiring lesson at a good pace and appropriate level and raise the attainment and expectation in the school. Built comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts, methods, and vocabulary as well as begin to understand how to assess and grade students' work in line with the National strategy.
I experienced for the first time how to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
My records of assessments and practice was noted and a position of KS3 coordinator was created after a few years.
I was proud that I raised standards and attainment levels with my enthusiastic and passionate teaching approach and I understood I was going to pursue a career in education,
Working for so many years and under the guidance of outstanding teachers and managers enabled me to become an expert in my role
I think I have developed good organisational skills and the ability to work in a multicultural education and I feel I am good at conflict resolution techniques as well as in public speaking
I am a fitness enthusiast and exercise daily. I believe my fitness expertise and dedication as kept me fit for work. I love travelling and learn about other cultures as well as practicing my language skills. I enjoy looking after my garden and my house and believe to have quite an artistic side when I do things like landscaping or moving furniture around/refurbish
