I first joined Interface Contracts, as a business administration apprentice. Within the first six months, I had developed my role to become a key member of the accounts team.
In my 2nd year with the company I had a 5 month secondment into the tendering department to transfer information from one software to another, within this we encountered many issues which I needed to create work-arounds for.
This secondment was then completed and I returned to the accounts team with a more broader understanding on the company and also with a complete understanding of the software package and have since been a person in which the company relies on for any issues anyone encounters within the software and general IT issues.
In absences, since the beginning of my time at interface I have also covered our procurement manager in the day to day ordering of materials for site.
In my 3rd year, the company moved offices and with this change of office instigated a change in roles within the company for myself.
After training up a new member of the accounts team, I moved out of accounts and into the project office.
And between then and the end of my employment at Interface I have been assisting the project managers in mainly admin duties, (including but not exclusive to dayworks, applications for payments & costing/profit analysis) whilst still carrying on to help where I can in all other departments.
During the final year, I was completing a foundation diploma course in Quantity Surveying with RICS and as such, my roles have become in more of a QS capacity
