  • Lead and support a diverse team of archivists and administrative staff, in the delivery of services meeting NRS public task to collect, preserve and produce information about Scotland's people and history, and make it available to inform present and future generations.
  • Worked with colleagues across the Scottish public sector to ensure NRS maintained strong and positive relationships with all its depositors, including Scottish Government, Scottish public bodies, Scottish Public Inquiries, the Courts and Judicial organisations, and private bodies and individuals.
  • Directed advice to depositor bodies on the appraisal and selection of records, to ensure the identification, survival and transfer to NRS of records requiring permanent preservation, including in digital formats.
  • Led work associated with the administration of closed archival records held by NRS, with ADL acting as the link between requesters and depositors for FOI and GDPR requests, administering the annual release of government files, working with colleagues across NRS and relevant depositing bodies to develop policies and procedures for dealing with the emerging challenges presented by large series of records being closed.
  • Directed resources to support the Scottish Government, courts and other stakeholders to provide information to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry and other inquiries and schemes, within the statutory timelines.
  • Collaborated with colleagues in the Digital Records Unit to develop NRS policies, procedures, advice and guidance for depositors.
  • Oversaw the delivery of NRS Retransmission Policy and service to stakeholders, ensuring the recording of accurate management information and initiating and directing a service improvement review.
  • Led all Depositor Liaison activities and staff, ensuring best use of resources and excellent communication between areas, with other parts of NRS, and externally, to delivers on those parts of the NRS Business Plan for which ADL had the lead.
  • Collaborated with other senior leads in IRS, reviewing and updating NRS archives and records policies and plans to drive forward the IRS vision and high level priorities supporting the Director of IRS in these aims.
