William Harvey Hospital is a 476-bed hospital with a 24-bed critical care unit. It is one of the three main hospitals in the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. It is a teaching trust involved in the education and training of doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals at King’s College London.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Care of unconscious patients in Critical Care Unit (ICU)
• Neurological assessments
• Identify patient deterioration through diligent observations.
• Deal with emergencies with calm and composure.
• Oversee, trained and mentored student and junior nursing staff.
• Administer, store and handle medication within outlined regulations.
• Assess patient health needs quickly to deliver rapid emergency support.
• Surgical wounds,specialised in burns wounds dressing, monitored healing and replaced bandages to prevent infections.
• Apply wound management protocols and procedures to facilitate patient recovery goals.
• Evaluate patients' physical, psychological and social issues to identify appropriate nursing interventions.
• Keep accurate, complete records of care in alignment with charting and privacy protocols.
• Participate in health education programmes and nurse education activities in clinical and community settings.
• Work with clinical team to carry out prescribed treatments addressing individual patient needs.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest nursing developments to provide best patient care.
• Apply critical thinking to analyse problems, evaluate solutions and select best decisions.
• Conduct intensive safety audits and investigated reported issues, accidents and near-misses.
